Shogun's Reign Roles, Species & Progression

The Players Hub for Shogun’s Reign explains the people side of the fantasy: which roles you can work, how species customization fits your OC, and how progression moves you from a poor start toward wealth, reputation, warrior or noble standing, and Shogun-facing ambitions.

This is not a PvP fighter roster. Shogun’s Reign is an Edo-period RP + progression life sim on Roblox. Your “build” is a mix of job choice, housing, etiquette, trade skill, and presentation. For ranked comparisons, continue to the Tier List Hub; for step-by-step job help, use the Guides Hub.

Roles overview

Community play has confirmed several workable identities:

• Merchant — Stall commerce with stock such as turnips and cabbage; strong for players who like buy/sell loops. Deep dive: Merchant role guide.
• Farmer — Field labor and a clear early Ryō on-ramp. Deep dive: Farmer role guide.
• Artisan — Craft-leaning middle path between fields and stalls. Deep dive: Artisan role guide.
• Attendant — Service and etiquette: laundry, footwear customs, bathhouse duties.
• Isha (医者) — Physician-like care role; name reflects historical doctor wording.
• Performer — Songs and performance play; tied to the Instrument Master badge path.

Attendant, Isha, and Performer are grouped in the Service roles guide. More jobs may exist in the live Province; we only document what is community-confirmed so this hub stays trustworthy.

Species

Character creation includes species options. Ryūjin is confirmed; the complete species list is still being catalogued as players share screenshots and menus. For what we know so far—and how species interacts with outfits and RP identity—read Species.

Species choice sits beside other OC fields covered in Customization: name, head, scale, height, outfits, bio, tags, and weapons. Pick a look that matches the social spaces you frequent (fields, stalls, bathhouse, performance spots).

Progression paths

The fantasy arc is deliberate: start poor → farm, labor, or trade → build wealth and reputation → push toward warrior or noble life → aim at Shogun-level ambition. Currency is Ryō. Housing claims, optional Private Domain, clans, and role mastery all feed the long game. Craft-leaning players can bridge fields and stalls via the Artisan role.

Playstyle snapshots

• Economy-first — Farmer or Merchant until housing is comfortable, then branch into artisan or service RP.
• Craft middle class — Artisan between fields and stalls without fake recipe sheets.
